British Cheese Awards 2013 winners

Hampshire Cheeses‘ Tunworth Cheese has been named Supreme Champion 2013 at the 20th British Cheese Awards of this year.

More than 60 judges tried and tested around 900 different British cheeses for the event that took place in Oxfordshire last week. Entries this year included over 221 raw milk cheeses, 117 organic, 83 blue and nearly 200 unique goat and ewe’s milk cheeses.

Hampshire Cheeses, owned by Stacey Hedges and Charlotte Spruce, were also awarded Best New Cheese for their Winslade Cheese, introduced earlier this year, that beat off 91 other entries. It is the second time that their Tunworth cheese has been awarded Supreme Champion, a feat achieved by only two other cheeses in the 20 years of the awards.
