Rich Simmons – The Inner Outsider. A brand new collection of work from the artist who brought you Will and Kate in punk style as Sid and Nancy. Federica Galli’s Trees – trees have featured prominently in the etchings of Federica Galli (1932-2009). This exhibition highlights Galli’s fascination with this subject while showcasing her technical achievements. Barbara Hepworth – The Hospital Drawings. In the late 1940s Barbara Hepworth produced a group of drawings and paintings of surgeons at work in an operating theatre. Bohun Gallery presents 40 Years of Fine Art: Part One. The very best of British 20th Century and contemporary art to this day from its premises in Henley on Thames. Antonio Stradivari (usually known as Stradivarius, c. 1644-1737). This summer exhibition will feature some of the world’s most important musical instruments on loan from international collections; and it will show a reception of Stradivarius’s workshop where visitors will be able to follow the creation of a violin from a log of spruce through to the finished instrument. Chagall: Modern Master – Exhibits over fifteen years of the work of Russian painter Marc Chagall (1887-1985). Jack Bell Gallery presents ‘Stefan Krynauw’. Born in the year of the fall of Apartheid, Krynauw’s work operates in an abstract space, devoid of the explicit racial or identity politics so prevalent in contemporary South African art. His paintings are both Baroque and expressionist. Glimpses of natural and architectural forms come in and of perspective as they float, twist, spin and blur. The artist builds up each painting over time; layering, washing, drawing, writing and then destroying the surface by scraping only to resurrect it later. Death In The Making: Photographs of War By Robert Capa:
marking the 100th Anniversary of Capa’s Birth. will not only feature images from the numerous conflicts he captured on the ground – including the civil wars of Spain and Cambodia, D-Day and The Liberation of Paris, and the First Indo-China War – but also rare printed works from Gallery Owner Ben Burdett’s private collection. Dulwich Picture Gallery presents Nash, Nevinson, Spencer, Gertler, Carrington, Bomberg: A Crisis of Brilliance 1908 – 1922. The exhibition will examine the evolution of this influential group who became among the most well-known and distinctive British artists of the early twentieth century. It will culminate with a selection of their paintings made during and immediately after the Great War, some of which are the most celebrated visual records of the epochal event. Andrew Slim of Slim Art in Chilsehurst presents ‘Franklin White’

Trinity House Paintings
present the works of internationally renowned 19th and 20th century artists in their exhibition ‘From Corot to Munnings. Sir Alfred Munnings, as a figurative equestrian portraitist, moved away from the abstracting modernist trends of the era. This can be seen in character-filled works such as his Portrait of Harry La Montagne on a Grey (1920), which is included in the exhibition. While Munnings’ works draw on traditional, and particularly British, subject matter- hunting and horse racing – his warm portraits of friends such as La Montagne also show a unique, novel style.

The Minster Gallery presents ‘Marc-Antoine Goulard’. Summer Light Collection. Marc-Antoine creates wonderfully evocative paintings. At first glance, they are pleasing compositions of colour. But as you keep looking, the layers of colours and horizontal flow often suggest landscapes or seascapes. He paints on wood panels starting by applying a background of white as the base of his canvas, and then begins building up layers of colour – many layers creating subtle combinations of translucent shades. The Piper Gallery presents ‘Etienne Viard: The Poetry of Instability’. Viard began his career as a ceramicist before expanding his range to include earth, stone, wood, glass and a variety of salvaged objects. The Artists of the Pageant at Turners House: An exhibition of 20 artists who recorded the Jubilee Flotilla.
