Art and Treasures from Turkmenistan
Contemporary paintings show how Turkmen artists have assimilated influences from art history to give their own version, distilled through an ancient decorative tradition. Recent photographs by Stuart Holmes show desert scenery from the Caspian Sea. Archive photographs show the early days of the country during the time when Turkmenistan was part of the Soviet Union. Embroidered textiles lent by a private collector, carpets, jewellery and ceramics, some of which will be for sale, complete this exhibition
