Bank Holiday latest: some airport strikes still on at Stansted; weather will be sunny in Britain

Bank Holiday strikes at Gatwick and Manchester airport have been called off, but 30 baggage screeners employed at Stansted airport will still walk out at the weekend.

Airfield Services, which employs the baggage screeners at Stansted, says that they will ensure only 'minimal disruption' for travellers. Two million Britons are expected to travel abroad this Bank Holiday.

Bank Holiday weather will be mainly sunny, although there nowhere will escape the rain, according to Met Office predictions.

The RAC warns that this morning is going to be the busiest time on the roads, while Network Rail is carrying out extensive works across the country over the weekend, particularly on the West Coast mainline.

The strikes planned at Gatwick and Manchester airports, however, have been called off.
