Knight Frank and Summers Wykes-Sneyd have announced the completed sale of Shrubland Hall Estate, Suffolk. After being split into two lots, the house and 228 acres has been sold to a UK buyer for use both as a home and for his business.

Shrubland Hall and gardens have been quoted as the best in East Anglia. The Hall, a fine example of an 18th century country house, sits in 228 acres of English Heritage-registered parkland. It was previously owned by Lord de Saumarez whose family had owned the property since 1775.  In 1965 Lord de Sumarez's parents established Shrubland Hall as the UK's first ever private health clinic.  It featured in the James Bond movie, Never Say Never Again where the spy was sent to get back into shape.

The estate totalling over 1300 acres was launched on the market in Country Life magazine as a whole in 2006 with a guide of £23 million. It has now been sold in two principal lots.

Shrubland Estate in Suffolk has been sold - Simon Jenkins wrote that ‘palm trees, cedars and oaks cannot relieve the noise of the all-too adjacent A14'

Clive Hopkins of Knight Frank says: 'Shrubland Hall, a family house and "the original" health clinic, had great potential as a private residence and commercial use. The purchaser has recognised this potential. It is excellent that the Hall will once again come to life and will be used to its full.'

Hector Wykes-Sneyd adds: 'It is very gratifying that the estate has been purchased by buyers who value the heritage of the property and intend to invest to protect and enhance its future.'
