Build a cottage on your own Scottish island

Eilean Mor Island is Lot 7 on the Castleton Estate, which lies between Glac Mhor Bay and Loch Fyne and the island extends to about 23.44 acres. The island is covered in bracken, rough grasses and mixed woodland including birch, fir, larch and pine.

There is full planning permission (07/02323/DET) to build a cottage at the southern end of the island on a site with magnificent views towards the Isle of Arran and the Kintyre peninsula. The planning permission is for a single storey stone and slate property with a sitting room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom.

There is a current licence from The Crown Estate for the reinstatement of the pier and pontoon on the island. There are a number of other ruins on the island showing that it once supported a viable croft.

A mooring buoy is located in the bay, under annual licence from The Crown Estate.
