Property picture of Flanders Road, LLANTWIT MAJOR

Beautifully appointed and refurbished period house referred to in the Royal Commission on Ancient and Historical Monuments in Wales book "Glamorgan Farmhouses and Cottages" and thought to date from about 1600.

Wonderful character with five reception rooms, four bedrooms and three bathrooms. Superb kitchen/breakfast room/living room. Mains gas fired central heating. Garage. Large garden with heated swimming pool. Recently featured in Channel 5 programme "Top Ten Coastal Locations".

DIRECTIONS: From Cowbridge take the Llantwit Major Road and go straight across the first roundabout at the beginning of the Llantwit Major by-pass. Under the railway bridge and then straight across at the mini roundabout into a one way street. At the end turn right then immediately left on the road towards the beach. About 0.3 mile turn right into Flanders Road to the very end and Lower House is on your left hand side.

INTRODUCTION: The Royal Commission on Ancient and Historical Monuments in Wales in their reference book "Glamorgan Farmhouses and Cottages" refer on pages 484 and 505 to Lower House as being circa 1600 and an example of a "hearth-passage house". The original property was sub divided into two some time ago and what is now offered for sale is the north western wing. In recent times the property has been extensively and sympathetically refurbished and modernised carefully retaining the original character but with the benefit of high quality modern appointments as evident particularly in the kitchen and master suite bathroom. This is very much a comfortable family house with lots of nooks and crannies, changes of level and accommodation which is usefully flexible to cater for varying family needs. The property enjoys the benefit of all mains services including mains gas fired central heating. Alongside there is a modern garage and sizeable courtyard parking area. There is a large mainly lawned rear garden with a heated swimming pool at the bottom of the garden. The location is pleasantly semi-rural on the outskirts of the town with the Heritage Coastline within easy walking distance. The historic town of Llantwit Major offers excellent local facilities all within walking distance. These include schools of excellent reputation, a wide range of shops both national and local, sporting and recreational facilities etc. The railway station with park and ride has recently re-opened in Llantwit Major providing regular services to Cardiff and Bridgend. There is easy access to the major road network bringing centres including the capital city of Cardiff, Newport, Swansea, Bridgend, Llantrisant, Barry, etc all within commuting distance.
