Having lived in Park Bridge for the last 24 years the vendors bought the coach house, moving from the other side of the village 14 years ago, with a view to refurbishing the property, living in it and bringing up their family. Owning horses, the location in the heart of the Medlock Valley, wit

H extensive bridle ways was the perfect position for them along with the stables and the land at the property. "Medlock Valley and Park Bridge has lovely walkways and cycle paths proving the ideal place to raise a family. It's also a superb location for other reasons too as it's just five minutes from Oldham, Ashton, the motorway network and the train station into Manchester - great for commuting!"

The historic village has a healthy community spirit. There's the Park Bridge Institute, owned and run by the locals, which holds many family events throughout the year. "The area is a very friendly place to live, with lovely neighbours who are thoughtful and caring."

The landscaped gardens with their lawns and stone-flagged patio are a beautiful addition to this five bedroom detached house. "There is a secure boundary wall with a lot of lovely established trees so the garden has total privacy. All sorts of nature frequents the garden, including foxes, polecats, hedgehogs and the most amazing range of birds including our resident woodpecker which comes back every year."

The house itself has echoed to the sound of much merriment during the family's ownership, holding lots of celebrations for the family. "There have been about 80 people on some occasions as there is ample space. The kitchen has a big morning room which is open plan so there's lots of floor space. The dining room is used every Sunday and is a good size to seat the families and friends when needed such as Christmas and other dinner parties. The kitchen is generally used the rest of the time."

Although the property has been tastefully rebuilt, Coach House still retains its charm and tradition. "The statue of a coachman with the date 1842 in one of the gables stands back in its original spot. The property was the coach house to Dean House, once home to the owners of Europe's biggest ironworks. There's lots of history within the area and the surrounding properties and it's important not to lose that. The lounge has a coal fire like the original so although the house looks old, it has been purpose built to be like that and is all in keeping."

After giving much tender loving care to Coach House, the owners are moving on. "We no longer need this amount of space, leaving will be a wrench, this property was a rare find and I can't see us getting a spot like this again.''
