One of only a handful of freehold private islands in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef has been put on the market

Friday, 20 June 2008

Little Green Island, off Australia's Great Barrier Reef, has just been placed on the market. Virtually untouched, the island is home to a unique and inspiring eco-retreat owned by the aurhor, Dr Edward de Bono.

The eco-retreat is the only building on the 62-acre tropical island and has been designed to integrate with the natural landscape. 'The flexible, open plan pavilion design of the home maximises the breathtaking oceans views, as well as the air flow and natural light penetration', explains Knight Frank's James Hall.

'Through the use of recylced water for irrigation and solar power for water heating, this splendid home is also at the cutting edge of environtmental sustainability.'

The house also boasts plenty of living and conference space and the island is rich in flora and fauna. The island has a fresh water lagoon and a 70m peak that offers spectacular views of mainland and out across the emerald water of the Whisundays.

'Little Green Island is one of only a handful of freehold islands in the Great Barrier Reef. This truly represents a once in a lifetime opportunity,' says Mr Hall

The island is for sale through Knight Frank Australia. Tel +61 (0)2 9036 6666 or visit www.knightfrank.com
