The village of Dolwyddelan, whose name means ’Gwyddelan’s Meadow’, lies in the Snowdonia National Park at the foot of Moel Shabod (which stands at 2861 ft), and is overlooked by Dolwyddelan Castle. The village provides everyday needs with local shops, a post office, public house hotel, train station and schooling is well catered for with the Dolwyddelan Primary School. The nearby towns of Betws-y-Coed, Conwy, Llanrwst and Porthmadog providing a more comprehensive range of amenities; with Conwy and Porthmadog also having a marina and sailing club.
The area is renowned for its scenic beauty with wonderful hill walking in the Snowdonia National Park as well as a variety of outdoor pursuits to include climbing, mountain biking, salmon and trout fishing, horse riding, access to numerous castles, and the popular Ffestiniog-Porthmadog-Caernarfon steam railway.
Conwy on the A55 expressway is 21 miles distant, and allows ease of access along the North Wales coast to Chester and the larger conurbations of Liverpool and Manchester. From Llandudno Junction, there is a regular rail service of approximately 3 hours to London via Crewe.

Directions
Northbound from Corwen on the A5, follow signs for Betwsy-Coed. Shortly before reaching Betws-y-Coed, turn left into a hairpin junction signposted A470 Dolgellau, continuing under the railway track towards the village of Dolwyddelan. Proceed into the village and after approximately 300 metres the Moriah Chapel will be seen on the right hand side.
Southbound from the A55, leave the expressway at junction 19 (Llandudno Junction) and take the A470 towards Betws-y-Coed. Continue along this road for approximately 15.6 miles, passing the turning for Betws-y-Coed and taking the right hand turning signposted A470 Dolgellau towards the village of Dolwyddelan. Then continue as above.
