It is one of only four houses approached along a track through open farmland and has wonderful panoramic views to the south. On a clear day, it is possible to see the spire of Salisbury Cathedral about 10 miles away. The villages of Ebbesbourne Wake and Alvediston have traditional village
pubs, houses and cottages. Broad Chalke is about 4 miles with a post office, shop, butcher, pub and excellent primary school. A wider range of shopping and recreational facilities are available in Salisbury to the east or Shaftesbury to west. The area is well known for its excellent selection
of state and private schools. Sporting opportunities in the area abound and there are superb walking and riding opportunities in the immediate vicinity. Water sports are available on the south coast with Poole about 30 miles away.
Description
Cornfields is an attractive architect designed modern country house which was built in 2009. It is constructed of mellow Michelmersh brick with Bath stone quoins under a slate roof with impressive pillared entrance portico. The double glazed sash windows have been thoughtfully designed and let in plenty of light. Internally the house is well laid out for family living, with a spacious reception hall and comfortable drawing room. The kitchen / breakfast room is in the heart of the house with
range of cupboards, Belfast sink, Everhot cooker and Italian limestone floor. French windows lead out onto the terrace taking advantage of the outstanding views. The house has under-floor heating throughout. White oak doors, carved balusters, built in cupboards / shelving and
an arched window are some of the qualities that have been thoughtfully incorporated.
Outside
To the east of the house is a double garage built of brick and slate with flagstone floor and fitted storage shelves. A gravelled parking area leads up to the garage and the boiler is attached to the northern side of the garage. The gardens are south east facing and principally laid to lawn with a
variety of specimen trees including Cedar, Lime, Oak, Sycamore, Oak and Ash. Along the south of the house is a large flagstone terrace with steps down to the lawn.
