Matching, Old Harlow Offers in excess of £1,000,000

Morgans Farm enjoys a tranquil location, set amid 4.2 acres (STMS) of grounds. The interior has been recently modernised and includes five/seven bedrooms, three reception rooms and a charming kitchen/breakfast room. The property would be ideal for equestrian enthusiasts as there are nine stables, a manège and two large barns.
The Story
Strolling across the paddocks in the sunshine, the owners of Morgans Farm still find it hard to believe they found such a perfect spot to live in.
Just a few minutes drive from the Matching area and the M11, it enjoys far-reaching open views and all the expected serenity of country living.
It offers everything, said one of them. We are in the countryside yet it is so easy to get to everything from here and this is such a glorious place to live.
And the other added: We could also see the house itself was ideal. We wanted something contemporary but that also had that country farmhouse feel.
MODERN LIVING
Equestrian property Morgans Farm echoes the style of stables that once stood on the land. With a Victorian appearance, it is a substantial home with between five and seven double bedrooms, depending on how the house is used.
It felt like a new build when we came in. We completely stripped it out and started again – putting in new bathrooms and redecorating, and creating a third floor, he said.
It is now an amazing family house.
Inside, Morgans Farm has a bright, modern feel yet, they stressed it still exudes a sense of cosiness and welcome.
GREAT SPACES
The layout of the house offers great flexibility as well as easy living. Rooms can have different uses and there is a good flow between them.
We tend to spend time in the kitchen dining room area, where we also have a section of comfortable seating, he said. The kitchen is new and is a good size.
He went on: In all, we have about 3,500ft of living space here – so we have plenty of room. It is a fantastic house for entertaining and for having guests to stay.
All the bedrooms are doubles and three have en-suite bathrooms.
COUNTRY VIEWS
The en-suite to the master bedroom is particularly large and has a stylish, free-standing bath on a raised platform.
I love this bathroom, she said. I can lie in the bath and look out at the view while I am relaxing.
We have lovely views out of so many of the windows here.
The owners can see another family enjoying life at Morgans Farm as much as they have.
From the highly practical utility and boot room through to the sumptuous relaxation areas, the living space is second to none.
There are also options here for working, she said. If someone wanted to run a business, there are the equestrian facilities and the outbuildings. There are also rooms in the house that could be used as offices.
There is even a wind sock here out in one corner of the field – and there is plenty of space if the new owner wanted to land a helicopter.
ACCOMMODATION
GROUND FLOOR
Approached via a gated frontage, a pea shingled, conifer lined driveway leads to the left and down to the property. After turning into the parking area, the full expanse of the home becomes apparent. The three storey house fits perfectly into its surroundings and has an imposing and grand feel to the design. Entering the front porch of the modern farmhouse style home you will find rustic tiled flooring and exposed brickwork creating a wealth of character. Stepping through the front door you will be standing in the long and spacious hallway which is bright and airy, with cornflower white walls contrasting with the grey deep pile carpets, generating a luxurious welcome. From here, doors lead into various rooms and stairs rise to the first floor. The bright drawing room is decorated in a similar style to that of the hall and boasts an artificial log burner in the corner that is also an electric heater. Additionally there is a door that opens to the terrace at the rear of the house.
Returning to the hall and at the opposite end, is the delightful kitchen/dining room which enjoys elegant décor, an array of glossy white cabinets with contrasting worktops and metallic iron ore floor tiles. A walk in larder is useful for storage and the sink is situated so that you can see over the front courtyard, while a door allows access to the garden. You will also find a glittery silver floral and vine effect feature wall, adding an alluring finish to the room. The hall has a cloakroom that is fitted with a modern white suite and contrasted by the stone effect tiled floor. Completing this floor is a particularly large utility room that is lined with fitted cabinets and block wood worktops, along with a second sink and entry to the boiler/airing cupboard.
FIRST FLOOR
Rising to the first floor, the hall runs along the length of the home, with three windows looking out to the front allowing lots of light to flow through. The cornflower white paintwork is again contrasted with the grey deep pile carpets and from here various doors lead to the bedrooms and stairs ascend to the second floor. The master suite is impressive and has views out to the front and the rear of the home, along with an en-suite that is draped in brilliant white wall tiles and black/sliver/grey metallic effect tiles, which cover the floor and rise up the wall. There is a raised area for the roll top bath and a large shower cubicle with a monsoon head, while inset blue mood lighting is a fabulous addition to this relaxing and calming haven. The second bedroom can be located at the other end of the hall and offers far reaching vistas over the surrounding area. The room is decorated in the same cool colour palette as can be found throughout the house, with a modern en-suite that has both a bath and shower, and built in vanity units. Bedroom three is well proportioned and set to the rear of the house, while the fourth bedroom is a versatile expanse and is currently utilised as an office. Concluding this level is the family bathroom, which has a bath with a shower fitted over, natural grey stone effect tiled flooring and grey stubble effect smooth glazed wall tiles.
SECOND FLOOR
Ascending to the third floor, the galleried hallway enjoys a modern orbital planet light setting an immediate ambience within the room. Bedroom five is currently used as an office but can be used as an additional reception room with views to the front over the paddocks and outbuildings. You will also find a second study with grey deep pile carpet and cornflower walls. Moving on, the guest suite is beautiful and due to its location on the third floor, offers a splendid place for visiting family and friends to stay. The suite also benefits from an en-suite shower.
SETTING THE SCENE
The grounds at Morgans Farm blend seamlessly with the open countryside surrounding it. While there is still potential for further development of the grounds, the current owners have enjoyed sitting outside in sunny spots and have started to create two distinct garden areas. In all, the grounds stretch to some 4.2 acres, about half of which is paddock, all enclosed with post and rail fences. There is plenty of parking and room for outdoor entertaining, along with marquees.
You will find an excellent annexe with a sun roof terrace which can be finished to your own personal taste. This also has its own garden with barbecue area. Additionally, there is a 5350 sq ft barn with five stables, a tack room and four further stables opposite the paddocks, while a second barn of around 800 sq ft opens out to the fields.
WITHIN EASY REACH
With good pubs, restaurants and private and state schools within reach, Morgans Farm enjoys great local amenities, as well as proximity to major roads and towns. The property is in the picturesque semi rural location of Matching, which is near Old Harlow and provides access to surrounding towns and villages. Harlow is the closest town, just a couple miles away and has plenty of boutique shops and high street names, along with a large amount of retail parks. Slightly further afield is Epping which is a smaller town with quirky little boutiques, coffee shops and a weekly market.
We are 15 minutes from Epping and the same distance from North Weald, where there is a Saturday market.
St Nicholas School is located a few minutes away on Churchgate Street and there are also some excellent schools a little further away, including St Johns C of E in Coppersale and Theydon Garnon Primary School.
Morgans Farm is within easy reach of Stansted Airport via the M11. There are also over-ground national rail links from Harlow, which takes approximately half an hour to Liverpool Street. The M25 is only a short drive away and from here you can get to Lakeside and Bluewater shopping centres.
We are eight minutes from the M11, and from there we can be on the M25 very quickly. I work in Chigwell, which takes me 30 minutes.
DIRECTIONS:
From the M11 Harlow roundabout proceed along the A414 London Road for about a mile. You will come to the first of four roundabouts – proceed straight ahead on the first three always following the A414 and at the fourth roundabout turn right on to the B183 Gilden Way. Proceed to the first roundabout and go straight over, about a mile down the road you will come to a second roundabout. Turn right at the roundabout and continue down Shearing Road. At the bottom of the road turn left and this road will gradually turn into Moor Hall Road. Morgans Farm is located on the left hand side after about a mile.
