Situation

Castle Oak occupies a wonderful position at the end of a long private drive on the edge of the small village of Offton and has far reaching views over the attractive undulating countryside. The property sits in a secluded and yet not isolated setting which is understood to be the second highest point in Suffolk. The village is within easy reach of Ipswich town centre, where the commuter can take advantage of regular InterCity services to London’s Liverpool street station. The market towns of Stowmarket, Bury St Edmunds and Colchester offer excellent shopping, educational and recreational facilities. Ipswich has convenient communications being just off the A14 with ready connections to the west for Newmarket, Cambridge and the country’s motorway network and to the east Felixstowe.

Description

Castle Oak is believed to date back to the 16th century and is Grade II Listed of Special Architectural and Historical Interest. The barn is constructed predominantly from timber frame with weather boarded elevations and some red brick and flint walls under pitched pan tiled and slate roofs. Internally the house has numerous features that include exposed beams, stone floors with under floor heating and a superb back to back wood burner in the vaulted drawing room. The house is presented to a high standard throughout with several of the rooms benefitting from the extensive views. The kitchen is well fitted with hand made oak units, granite worktops and a central island with built in wine fridge, butlers sink, range oven and large windows opening into the attractive south facing courtyard. There is extensive parking to the eastern side fronting the cart lodge.
