The house is located on the edge of the loch at St Catherine’s which is about 4.75 miles from the popular Loch Fyneside village of Strachur.

Strachur has local shops and services that cater for most everyday needs and requirements.

Primary schooling is available at Strachur and secondary schooling which enjoys an excellent reputation is available at Dunoon Grammar (23 miles). There is a regular school bus run both to the primary and secondary schools. The nearest independent school is in Helensburgh at 34 miles.

Glasgow is about 56 miles and offers a full range of higher and further educational services as well as all the cultural and professional services normally connected with a major city.

The A83 & A82 offer swift access to central Scotland. Arrochar (18 miles) has a main line rail station with a service to and from Glasgow city centre.

Leisure
The area offers much in the way of relaxing outdoor pursuits, including yachting and boating, golf, fishing, hill walking and country walks in an area rich in history. The recently established Cowal Way stretches from Portavadie on Loch Fyne and travels for some 31 miles to Arrochar through some of the most dramatic and picturesque sea and landscapes on the west coast. There are many spectacular gardens and walks within easy reach.

A scenic 9-hole golf course is at Tighnabruaich with other courses on the Island of Bute and at Dunoon and Inveraray. Sea, river and loch fishing are also available in the area as are a number of shoots run either commercially or by syndicates.

For sailors, the sea lochs of the west of Scotland offer safe anchorages as well as spectacular coastal sailing. There are marina and chandlery services at Portavadie, Sandbank and Ardfern in Loch Craignish for easy west coast access.
