Country houses for sale

Thinking of a move to the country?

On Thursday 27th March 2014, at The Grand Hall, Battersea Arts Centre, The London Office and leading London agent Douglas & Gordon will once again co-host the annual The Move to the Country Show.

Supported by Country Life magazine, 32 country agents will offer their advice to homeowners planning to make their move out of the Capital. From rectories to country estates, from farmhouses to chocolate box cottages, a broad spectrum of properties will be available for sale and to rent.

Bob Bickersteth, Director of The London Office explained: ‘The show is for those who are inquisitive about moving to the country, investing in property outside the capital or simply looking for a different lifestyle. We have noticed an increased emphasis on buyers taking advantage of the price differential between London and the country in order to afford a  better quality of life for their families.

‘This differential has never been so great and has grown significantly over the last 24 months, with London property approximately 25% above the 2007 peak and the country 10% below.

The show will also feature a buying agent and other property related professionals to give advice.

George Franks, Sales Director of Douglas & Gordon added: ‘One of the biggest changes we noticed was the volume of homeowners opting to rent out their London home instead of selling, driven by a growing fear of being priced out of the market. If you are thinking of making the move, The Move to the Country Show is the perfect place to start your search. Douglas & Gordon’s staff will be on hand at the show to answer questions you may have about selling or letting your London home.’
