HISTORY

In 1861, the Marquis de Vallombrosa acquired the Château des Tours, built in 1852, and transformed it into an exceptional residence to welcome his many distinguished guests, including Queen Victoria, Charles Gounod, the Duke and Duchess of Luynes and the Count of Paris. He built two additional wings, a chapel and enlarged the park, adding a wide variety of plant species and even a small zoo, to the delight of his visitors. In 1893, the property became a hotel until 1937, when it became the Parc Vallombrosa residence.
