Property description
An old, 12th century priory and its landscaped garden in the midst of a royal town in the Touraine region - ref 241498
This manor house, 2½ hours from Paris via the A10 motorway and 25 minutes from Tours with its TGV train station providing one-hour links to Paris, is set in an extremely dynamic town, known the world over for the wealth of its architectural, cultural and historic heritage, with all shops and amenities as well as two weekly markets.
This fully enclosed property, in a very residential district, is accessed via wrought iron gates.
This manor house stands towards the front of a plot of lane, on the roadside, spanning almost 2,000 m².
It is accessed via wrought iron gates which open on to the little-used road.
Reflecting the Renaissance style with its mullioned windows, this manor house spans two levels.
On its north facade, a large terrace extends on a level with the first floor out towards the parklands. The building is flanked in a corner by a turret constructed from dressed freestone, a local limestone.
The manor house roof is covered with slate.

The manor house

This old priory was constructed in 1108 and underwent major redesigning works in the late 19th century. Its Renaissance style features a gable, slate roof and walls partially constructed from freestone.
Its triangular gable is enhanced with winged dragons at the foot of the slopes. All the openings have been modified, the tall mullioned and stained-glass windows are featured on two levels.
The attic space can be reached via a winding stairway, housed in a turret, with corbelling, adjoining the north-east corner.
This house is a pastiche of a 15th century dwelling having come blithely down through the ages as the building is in pristine condition.

Our opinion
This property comprises numerous assets. It is set in the midst of one of the Touraine region’s most prestigious towns. It is not only in the middle of the town but also has a landscaped garden, spanning approx. 2,000 m² and including an unoverlooked swimming pool.
This property is immaculately kept both inside and out.
It is also suited to accommodating some of the many tourists that visit the royal town.
A perfect spot for those seeking to develop a commercial bed & breakfast activity.
