The villa was built in 1927 by the architectural firm Gulden en Geldemaker. The Amsterdam School style they used is recognizable by the many subtle, but carefully elaborated brick decorations. When the Amsterdam School became more commonplace, the style changed to a simplified version of this movement. Although the designs often have a unique appearance, and there is still ornamental masonry, it all became less exuberant.
Characteristic buildings of the office, with other architects affiliated at the time, are located at Gerrit van der Veenstraat (1926-1927), Minervalaan/Stadionkade (1931-1932) and Hoofdweg (1925-1928).

The location is excellent, within walking distance of the Cornelis Schuytstraat and Beethoventraat, on the water of the Jan van Goyenkade, diagonally opposite the sports fields of the Olympiaplein and near the Vondelpark.

Restaurants, terraces and an extensive range of shops with good specialist shops within easy reach. The Concertgebouw and the major museums are also within walking distance. There are also various primary and secondary schools and childcare in the immediate vicinity.
Various roads can be reached within a few minutes by car.
Public transport offers good connections, both in and out of the city. Train/metro station Zuid/WTC is 5 minutes by bike.
