Property description
This home is crazy, crazy good! This epic custom build was finished just last year in Lake Oswego's Street of Dreams Highlands neighborhood. It's so new it feels like brand new construction. It's the perfect vacation where you live property with an incredible pool and a fantastic layout for indoor/outdoor living and entertaining. The back yard is incredible with a pool and patio fitting for a 5-star hotel where all the guests are friends and family. Incredible landscaping and a serene atmosphere make this a place you'll never want - or need - to leave to get away from it all!
-Terry Sprague

Every finish and feature was carefully chosen in this Traditional Transitional-style dream house that the owners planned to be a gathering spot for their friends and family for years to come. Life is always throwing us curveballs and now they're moving across the country to pursue new dreams so this house is unexpectedly available just 15 months after completion. After an extensive search for the perfect spot to build their dream home, the owners chose this lot with the best views in the area and bought just the dirt for $1.8 million. Situated on nearly an acre, this lot was not part of the initial Street of Dreams development known as The Highlands in the Forest Highlands neighborhood of Lake Oswego, it was reserved for later development. Built by award-winning Grove Custom Homes, designed by internationally-acclaimed architect and artist Curt Olson with interiors by Joelle Jarvis Design, this home is filled with natural light, tall ceilings and welcoming spaces with a layout that is as perfectly suited for quiet Sunday brunch as it is for poolside parties.

The living room, kitchen, and family room are constructed in a modified L-shape and all feature glass Centor accordion doors that lead outside to the patio and pool, creating a smooth flow in and out for both daily living and entertaining. This configuration also allows the rooms to be immersed in gorgeous natural light and provides a view of the landscaping done by Jonathan Laycock of Laycock Gardens and the valley beyond.

The living and dining rooms are a large, combined space just off the foyer. These rooms are perfect for special occasions and celebrations but are also designed to be enjoyed more often, not only when company comes, but also for things like a cup of tea and a good book on a Tuesday afternoon. White wainscot defines the dining room where a wide built-in buffet provides serving and storage space. The living room features a gas fireplace with a tile surround and a classic white mantle. Built-in cabinetry under large windows flanks the fireplace providing storage and display space. The perfect soundtrack for every occasion is the touch of a button away with the house-wide Sonos system and app on your phone.

The gorgeous kitchen opens off the living and dining room and is the physical and metaphorical heart of the home. Done in shades of white and grey, the kitchen features a large rectangular island that is sure to be a magnet for everyone who passes through. Light Caesarstone countertops provide an attractive and durable surface with heat, stain and chip resistance throughout the kitchen. These quartz counters create a perfect space for prep, serving and eating at the island which also houses a farmhouse sink. The island is painted a grey hue while the upper and lower cabinets are a crisp white with a classic subway tile backsplash. Top-of-the-line appliances include a Miele oven and steam oven, Miele coffee maker, SubZero cabinet-front refrigerator, SubZero wine fridge and a six-burner plus griddle Viking cooktop. The kitchen's informal dining space includes a buffet that houses a SubZero beverage drawer and a freezer drawer for extra storage and cold treats easily accessed from the pool and patio.

Just off the kitchen, through a rustic sliding barn door is the family room. This is the perfect spot for watching movies or sports with space for a large sectional sofa as well as a ping pong table. Sliding doors open out to the covered stone patio where a wood-burning fireplace with a gas starter will keep everyone cozy on chilly evenings. The built-in Lynx grill is perfect for a summer bbq and since it's under cover, can be used along with the patio year-round. The patio also includes three heaters built into the tongue and groove ceiling.

The pool is a spectacular haven designed with clean lines and space to unwind. The rectangular pool features a state-of-the-art Hydrazo finish that provides a durable yet silky smooth finish to the pool's texture as well as an automatic cover. The surrounding landscape and grass lawn was designed to enhance the view which includes a peek-a-boo look at Mt. Hood. The hot tub is located nearby as is a welcoming fire pit surrounded by stone benches. The surrounding pool deck has plenty of space for lounge chairs as well as seating areas and tables with plenty of flexibility for the changing needs of pool days and entertaining.

The main floor also includes a large mudroom/laundry room with a built-in drop-zone with hooks and a bench for coats, backpacks and shoes. The laundry room leads into a home gym overlooking the back yard complete with mirrors and a rubberized floor. Just down the hall is the main floor's convenient guest room that includes an ensuite bath and walk-in closet. Ideal for aging guests or multi-generational living, the guest bath has a large curbless shower. Finally, the home's primary office features walnut wainscoting and a gas fireplace surrounded by stone sourced from Montana. Located in a quiet area on the main floor, this space is perfect for working from home.

At the top of the stairs on the second floor is an additional office space with a built-in desk and bookcases perfect for use as a homework space or as a flex office when needed. There are four bedrooms upstairs, including the primary suite. The two guest bedrooms, each have their own ensuite bath, large walk-in closet and the luxurious wool carpet that spans the second level. Each of the bathrooms includes a frameless glass shower, each with a different tile to differentiate the space. Plumbing figures in the bathrooms are premium Kallista solutions and throughout the home, the interior doors are TruStile, each made to order with premium materials.

The primary suite is true to its name with an abundance of space to retreat and relax. Step inside to a foyer hall lined with a full-length, built-in highboy storage dresser. To the left is a sitting room that can be closed off by a sliding barn door. Perfect for use as a tv room, this space could also double as an additional office, yoga studio, or nursery. The bedroom is large with a spacious private balcony overlooking the pool. The balcony includes both covered and uncovered space making it perfect to get some fresh air year-round. The ensuite bath has luxurious heated floors and a gorgeous freestanding soaking tub. The curbless walk-in shower has frameless glass doors and three shower heads including a rain head. The two vanities are separated ensuring enough space for everything. The walk-in closet has customized built-in storage including drawers, cubbies and ample hanging space. An additional room currently used as a quiet sitting room featuring a Mt. Hood view is located just off the bath. This flexible space could become a dressing room, craft space, or an office/workspace (because we can't seem to have enough of those these days!)

This home is the result of a very hands-on building and design process and the benefit of careful decision-making is an incredibly special space that is practically new construction. As part of a Street of Dreams neighborhood, it is surrounded by gorgeous homes on large lots that are beautiful and well-maintained. Just three minutes from Lake Oswego High School and five minutes from Lake Oswego Junior High, this location is unbeatable. New Seasons Market is a 10-minute walk and downtown Lake Oswego's Farmer's Market, restaurants and shopping is an eight-minute drive. It will take 15 minutes to get to downtown Portland and a trip to Portland International will take about 30 minutes. However, you'll probably only go there to pick up visitors because if you live here, it'll feel like a vacation every day.
