How to make bramble whisky

Make bramble whisky while the hedges are full with the fruit and bottle a taste of summer for the cold winter months to come

With autumn fast approaching and the hedges heavy with brambles (or blackberries if you prefer), this is the time to bottle a taste of summer to enjoy when winter sets in.

Half fill a 3 litre storage jar with brambles. Add 8 ounces of sugar and 2 litres of whiskey. Leave it in the jar for six months, or for as long as you can resist it.

Strain through a coffee filter to bottle, and drink. The remaining fruit is delicious to eat with ice cream.
