Property description
A red brick, village house by the waterside, in a pastoral setting with 50 m of bank, 120 km from Paris - ref 710723
Approx. 120 km from Paris, 62 km from Rouen, 24 km from Forges-les-Eaux. Beauvais airport and its numerous low-cost destinations as well as its SNCF train station are but 28 km away.
The nearest village, with its few food shops and its markets, is about 3 km away. The A28 is some 35 km away
A pleasant lane winds its way between meadows until it reaches the plot of land, housing this property.
Its entrance is closed by tall gates. A square gravel courtyard leads to the house and, on the left, to two outbuildings, one of which is a vast barn which could be converted on two levels for little cost.
On the other side of the dwelling, land planted with pear trees as well as redcurrant and blackcurrant bushes runs alongside a river abounding with trout.
An outbuilding with half-timbered facades, most probably dating from the 18th century, contains a wash-house and a bread oven.

The dwelling

The red brick facades of this dwelling, built in 1837, are topped with a gable roof covered with slate tiles. The second level is illuminated via Jacobin-style and shed dormers.
On the ground floor, double, sliding, double-glazed picture windows, with white aluminium frames, open on to the long, wide terrace. The windows are protected by slatted or rolling shutters.
The terrace, bordered by decorative brick railings, is big enough for eating meals and taking afternoon naps outside. It is surrounded by flowers as of the spring courtesy of the wisteria and the Virginia creeper, the garden being just a few steps down.

The outbuildings

A vast exposed stone barn spanning two levels comprises 3 garages.
This section could easily be converted into a guest house or additional bedrooms.

Our opinion
This residence immediately makes a good impression, a feeling which is confirmed on closer inspection. Fully and soberly restored with a Modernist air, it appears to be a very pleasant place to live and the stream running along the end of the garden adds an extremely pastoral touch to this small estate.
The proximity of Beauvais airport with its cheap flights makes this a particularly interesting house for overseas buyers or, more generally, for air-transport enthusiasts who will be just a stone’s throw away from having the world at their fingertips.
