Impressive country seat with unique character
If you are impressed by this special part of the Netherlands, at the driveway of the NSW country estate Het Hakenberg (approx. 12 ha.), it will quickly become clear that it can get even more impressive. Het Hakenberg is located on the moraine in the National Landscape Noord-Oost Twente. It concerns a so-called Fabrikanten Buitenplaats [Manufacturers Country Estate] (family Blijdenstein), consisting of an impressive construction in the English rural style and, to balance this out, a characteristic manor with tea dome and coach house, located on a hill.
The current owners have done everything in the past decade to restore this country estate to its former glory and develop it further. They have done so completely in line with the intentions of the famous landscaper Pieter Watters, who constructed the country estate with expansive ambition in the twenties of the previous century. The interchange and slope of the landscape and the spacious effect in the shapes of the estate, consisting of rural lands, meadows, centuries-old solitary trees, special shrubs, water features, concentric paths and ornamental woodland edges, provide not just unique sights, but also an unparalleled experience.
This also applies for the manor (1927) located on the top of the hill, which was renovated by the famous regional architect Jan Jans in the beginning of the fifties. While maintaining the historic signature, a very beautifying restyling took place twelve years ago. High quality materials were selected with knowledge of the matters in mind. The application of lots of glass and the colour white created extra light and space. In combination with the original style elements and the massive oak floors, it resulted in a particularly warm and atmospheric appearance. The hearth in the living room strengthens this effect even more. The intimate living room and adjacent dining room (with half-round bay window), just like the authentic conservatory, are oriented to the south and provide a view on the striking platform, which includes a shadowy terrace located under one of the oldest beech trees on the estate. Perhaps even more gorgeous is the view here, which extends over practically the entire estate, and the special effects thanks to the lines of light and the grazing light make this even more impactful. A large art studio was created next to the entrance of the house on the east side.
From the front portal and the hall, it becomes clear immediately that the grandeur of the past forms a special combination with the appearance and the comfort of these modern times here. The house comes with all conveniences and this is tangible in the kitchen diner thanks to all modern appliances and the kitchen island. The rear hall provides access to the provision/wine cellar. The first floor has an office, two luxurious bathrooms and multiple spacious bedrooms, of which three with a balcony. On the north side, the landing offers an amazing view on the tea dome, located at a high elevation, and the remarkable diversity of green. The variation in the Stinsenbos, just like the ice cellar nearby, complete the picture. What should certainly also be mentioned is the coach house located at the east side, which offers room for multiple cars in addition to lots of storage space.
NSW country estate Het Hakenberg is a municipal monument. The NSW status allows for fiscal benefits (IB/Donation/Inheritance), while the lands are SNL (subsidy) certified.
The estate is part of the village Beuningen (municipality of Losser) and is located centrally between the locations Denekamp and Oldenzaal 8 minutes by car. These provide all the important amenities.
The A1 and A30 highways are located several kilometres away.
