Historic Corfu estate in need of repair
An historic Corfu estate over 300 years old in need of repair but just metres from a pristine beach has come onto the market
Dating from around 1700 and once owned by nobility, this stunning, idyllic estate is located just 22km south of Corfu Town in coastal Messonghi. The estate has a building area of 1,200sq m on a plot of 17,000sq m and the buildings, in addition to the impressive main house, include a storehouse, cisterns, an olive press and a chapel (some of these buildings are thought to pre-date 1700). The buildings were constructed in a circular fashion surrounding the main two storey house with some of them forming part of the courtyard wall.
The estate is in need of complete renovation, which must be carried out sympathetically: it was granted ‘work of art and preservable historic status’ in 1983 as it represents Heptanese architecture, which is typically representative of the Ionian islands so work must comply with the standards of the antiquities department.

Messonghi is a modern tourist resort with a long sandy beach unspoiled by mass tourism – this project is not to be undertaken lightly but would result in a truly unique estate in a beautiful spot in the Greek islands either as a private family home or a small hotel or holiday lets.
The guide price is €850,000. For further information please contact Islands Blue on 0208 349 1456.
