Vintage posters go on display in Cannes
JW Marriott has partnered with Christie's to exhibit a special collection of vintage travel posters during the Cannes film festival

JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts and Christie's have teamed up to present vintage travel posters during the Cannes International Film Festival.
From 14-25 May 2014, a special collection of Côte D'Azur travel posters will be displayed at the JW Marriott Cannes and, throughout the film festival, will be open to the public daily between 10am and 6pm.
The posters in the exhibition were commissioned by railway companies to promote travelling in style during the 1930s, a golden age of tourism when artists, writers, artists and aristocrats flocked to the area for its beauty and its entertainments.
Mitzi Gaskins, Vice President and Global Brand Manager for JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts, says, 'we are privileged to be able to offer guests and visitors a first glimpse at this impressive collection from such a fitting setting.'
'The posters depict the glamour and allure associated with travel past and present, and we hope to be able to enrich our gusts own travel experiences through this evocative exhibition'.
Sophie Churcher, Specialist in Vintage Posters at Christie's South Kensington, added, 'Christie's is delighted to partner with JW Marriott Hotel Cannes for this unique exhibition celebrating the rich history of tourism in the Côte D'Azur.'
The entire collection of coinage posters and luggage entitled, The Art of Travel, and includes works by A.M. Cassandre, will be on sale at Christie's in South Kensington on 18 June 2014.
