Property description
A beautiful, late 18th century 5 bedroom converted farmhouse with a separate 7 bedroom guest house on a private 4000m2 plot with stunning views of Mont Blanc.

Having hosted the first winter Olympics in 1924, the Chamonix valley is considered by many to be the home of alpine skiing. Located at the foot of Mont Blanc, the drastic yet beautiful scenery attracts a wide diversity of international visitors. However, the resort is perhaps best known for the more challenging summer and winter activities on offer. With five ski areas to choose from and with an altitude of 3,275m, there is no shortage of terrain for all levels of skier. The famous 20km Valley Blanche off-piste run presents a test for the more advanced. The views from the Aiguille du Midi and Grands Montets are both stunning and unique.

Unlike some prime resorts across The Alps, Chamonix is hugely popular in the summer months. While many visitors flock to the resort for the Marathon du Mont-Blanc each year, trail running is just one of the many activities to choose from. Some of the lifts operate in the summer allowing for hiking, mountain biking and parapenting for the more daring.

Chamonix is a traditional alpine town, but has an abundance of up-market shops, restaurants, bars and nightclubs. 100km from Geneva airport, the resort is easily accessible and continues to invest in its infrastructure in order to maintain its position as one of Europe’s top alpine destinations.

Peter Pan is a beautifully restored Savoyarde farmhouse standing in a private plot of 4000m2 at the western end of the Chamonix valley. The property is steeped in history having been originally built by Piedmontais farmers in 1775 and operated as a working farm until the 1940’s when it was developed into an auberge for child refugees during World War II. Peter Pan served as a happy retreat for many children throughout the war and the name is inspired by JM Barrie’s character who did not want to grow up.

At an altitude of 1,100m this large plot comprises a chalet of 450m2, a separate 7 bedroom chalet of 175m2, 3 mazots, an external Jacuzzi, garaging for 4 cars and stunning views of Mont Blanc.

Although having been refurbished over the years, the main chalet has retained a traditional alpine feel with stone flooring and wood panelling throughout. The ground floor is spacious with a fantastic open plan kitchen and informal dining area which lead through to a cosy winter garden with a log burner in the stone fireplace. In addition, there is a separate living room for more peaceful moments in front of another impressive fireplace and a fabulous wood-panelled dining room for more formal occasions. The panoramic views of Mont Blanc can be enjoyed from the south-facing 140m2 terrace which spreads across the front of the chalet.

The first floor is made up of 4 generous en-suite bedrooms, one of which is an apartment with its own front door, bathroom and kitchenette.

The top floor is a converted loft currently used as bedroom accommodation for up to 9 people, with 2 bathrooms and a TV snug.

The annexe is a completely separate chalet with 175m2 of space, 7 bedrooms, a living room and dining room. Although charming, the chalet could benefit from extension and reconfiguring which is possible, subject to planning.

This is an opportunity to acquire of the Chamonix Valley’s most historic and unique properties.
