G. A. Bremner

Professor G. A. Bremner is is professor of architectural history at the University of Edinburgh. He has studied at Cambridge — where he took his PhD — and Yale, and has won a huge number of prizes for his work, including the Hawksmoor Medal (awarded by the Society of Architectural Historians of Great Britain) and the Founders’ Award (awarded by the Society of Architectural Historians in the USA) for outstanding scholarship in the field of architectural history. Alex's interests include nineteenth- and early twentieth-century British architecture, architecture and empire, religious architecture, and national identity and its relationship to the wider built environment.
