Buy a hotel room in New York
A much-loved 1920s hotel in New York has been relaunched and is now offering hotel rooms to investors and those in need of a base in the city
The Mark, previously a well-loved hotel on the upper east side in Manhattan, relaunched last year and now provides hotel rooms for those on holiday and more permanent residences for those looking for a well-placed pad in New York. The property is well situated, just one block from Central Park, and within easy walking distance of The Metropolitan and the Guggenheim.
The owners have spared no expense fully refurbishing this 1920s property with the most up-to-date interiors and amenities. Rooms are between 400 and 500sq ft and suites start at 800sq ft and the elegant interior design has been entrusted to Jacques Grange while the general manager James Sherwin is a veteran of The Savoy, Claridges and The Connaught.
The main restaurant has a private dining room, and The Club Room provides a more informal space for dining while Mark’s Bar provides cocktails and aperitifs. There is a 24 hour fitness centre as well as 24 hour room service allowing guests to work out and then replenish themselves immediately, whatever time it is.
Apartments in the Mark cost from just short of $2m for a studio to $23.5 million for a five-bedroom suite and $60 million for the penthouse. Annual service charges for the properties are nearly £5,000 per year, but owners can let their apartment through the hotel. A suite costs $1,000 per night and owners take 60% of the earnings.
