Get a cyberman in your stocking
Dr Who memorabilia is going under the hammer in December in Knightsbridge, in case anyone knows a fan or two who might fancy a cybmerman in their stocking
Doctor Who memorabilia goes under the hammer on December 18 at Bonhams Knightsbridge, London W1, to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the beloved BBC programme. One highlight is a destroyed Dalek, believed to have appeared in Remembrance of the Daleks (estimated at £4,500- £5,000). Made from wood, fibreglass, metal, plastic and foam, it stands more than 3ft tall and is thought to be the one that was blown up in the episode.

There's also a silver Cyberman costume from a 1988 episode, complete with laser gun and gloves, for an estimated £1,000-£1,500.
Back in the world of real, as opposed to time, travel, there's an opportunity to bid for Antarctic Days: Sketches of the Homely Side of Polar Life, by two of Sir Ernest Shackleton's men, at Bonhams' Travel & Exploration sale, also at Knightsbridge, on December 4 (020-7393 3900; www.bonhams.com).

Country Life is unlike any other magazine: the only glossy weekly on the newsstand and the only magazine that has been guest-edited by His Majesty The King not once, but twice. It is a celebration of modern rural life and all its diverse joys and pleasures — that was first published in Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee year. Our eclectic mixture of witty and informative content — from the most up-to-date property news and commentary and a coveted glimpse inside some of the UK's best houses and gardens, to gardening, the arts and interior design, written by experts in their field — still cannot be found in print or online, anywhere else.
