A wild place in the Highlands
Glentruim House near Laggan has been comprehensively restored.

A former seat of the Clan Macpherson, secluded Glentruim House near Laggan in Inverness-shire is for sale through the Inverness office of Strutt & Parker (01463 719171) for ‘offers over £3m’. In her book A Strange and Wild Place, Sandra Macpherson describes her family’s time at Glentruim, which has since been comprehensively restored and refurbished by its present owners, Gordon and Sydney Ingram, who bought the house with 53 acres as a holiday home in 2008. Mr and Mrs Ingram have renovated the house and cottages from top to bottom. The interiors, all designed by Mrs Ingram, now include a smoking room, a library, a beauty spa, a sauna, a gym and a home cinema, along with the original main reception rooms, eight bedrooms and seven bathrooms.
Having opened the house for private functions and holiday lets 18 months ago, the business has quickly developed into a successful enterprise in its own right and the time has come to move on.
Some pieces of the Macpherson furniture that came with the house will remain in place. ‘They were part of the house when I bought it and it would be wrong to remove them,’ Mr Ingram believes.
