Reader event: A rare glimpse into the world of Elizabeth Gage
The iconic jeweller Elizabeth Gage is opening up her workshop to a small group of Country Life readers in an intimate event on Wednesday, May 13.
Few names in British jewellery carry the quiet authority of Elizabeth Gage. For more than half a century, her work has occupied a singular place in the landscape of design — bold and scholarly, richly referential yet unmistakably her own.

Drawing on classical antiquity, Renaissance art and a lifelong fascination with texture and form, Elizabeth has created pieces that feel less like adornment and more like artefacts; objects to be lived with, collected and cherished.
The publication of Elizabeth Gage: A Life in Jewellery marks a defining moment in this remarkable career. Part memoir, part visual archive, the volume offers an intimate reflection on a life spent at the jeweller’s bench, tracing the evolution of a design language that has remained resolutely independent. It is both a celebration of craftsmanship and a testament to the enduring appeal of jewellery made without compromise.
To coincide with this milestone, a select number of Country Life readers are invited to step inside Elizabeth's world. On the morning of May 13, 2026, her private showroom on West Halkin Street, SW1, will open its doors for a rare, invitation-led collectors’ salon. Designed as an intimate gathering, the occasion offers the opportunity to experience the work as intended; up close, unhurried and in conversation with those who understand its nuances.
From 10am to 12 noon, guests will be welcomed into her showroom. One-of- a-kind and limited-edition pieces will sit alongside signature designs, each revealing the hallmarks of Elizabeth's practice: hand-worked gold, sculptural form and a reverence for gemstones chosen as much for character as for clarity. There will also be the opportunity to discuss bespoke commissions, continuing a tradition of patronage that has long underpinned the house.
The morning is as much about connection as it is about acquisition. It is a chance to handle the pieces, understand the process behind them and begin a relationship — whether as a seasoned collector or a curious newcomer — with a body of work that rewards familiarity over time.
One-of-a-kind and limited-edition pieces are a hallmark of Elizabeth Gage collections.
The newly published book will be offered to guests to take away on the day. For those in London ahead of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, the event presents a fittingly civilised interlude — a quiet morning devoted to beauty, craftsmanship and discovery.
The event takes place on May 13; to request an invitation, please email katie.ruocco@futurenet.com
