Wardour Castle was designed by James Paine for the eighth Lord Arundell. It is reputed to be the largest Georgian house in Wiltshire. The house was continually occupied by the Arundell family until it became the Cranborne Chase girls' school in 1960. It was then converted in 1994 into flats.
Adjoining the house at the western end is the important Roman Catholic Chapel known for its stunning interior stain glass windows, paintings, sculptors and vestments.
