The Cottage dates from the mid 1600’s and is Grade II listed. Formerly known as The Speldhurst Farm, it was owned by the famous Baden Powell family.
Accommodation is arranged over three floors, plus a cellar, as shown on the enclosed plan and includes many excellent features including attractive brick, timbered and part tile hung elevations with distinctive lattice windows, dormers and substantial chimneys. Internally there are many period features including exposed timbers and beams in a number of rooms.
The sitting room is a delightful room with a large mellowed stone inglenook fireplace, while the dining room has many exposed beams and an open fireplace with a gas fire and an attractive alcove with seating. There are double doors to the excellent kitchen/breakfast room which has been bespoke fitted.
The first floor has the master bedroom and a family bathroom, while the top floor has two further bedrooms, both with vaulted ceilings and, off one, a bathroom . The cellars are approached from the outside, although the original internal staircase is still in place, and have been beautifully renovated with exposed brick walls and floor and their original working well.
The Cottage is set in the centre of Speldhurst in Kent opposite the church and near the ancient George & Dragon Inn. Tunbridge Wells is just over three miles.
