Superb Newmarket racing yard for sale
Trainer John Ferguson hands over the reins.

Former National Hunt trainer John Ferguson, who earlier this year relinquished his licence to concentrate solely on his role as CEO and racing manager of Sheik Mohammed’s massive Godolphin operation worldwide, is selling his state-of-the-art training centre, Bloomfields, at Cowlinge, near Newmarket, Suffolk, through Strutt & Parker in Cambridge (01223 459500) at a guide price of £4.5m for the whole. The pristine equestrian complex includes 55 loose boxes, ultra-modern training and stud facilities and 113 acres of paddocks and gallops, as well as the immaculate, six-bedroom main farmhouse, with four separate cottages and two flats. Commenting on the sale, Mr Ferguson says philosophically: ‘The Ferguson family has had a huge amount of fun at Bloomfields over the past 22 years. We have loved living here, training horses here and the children have all grown up here, but it’s time for the next chapter.’
